Shanna Grubb
Director

Mrs. Grubb grew up in Houston where she started taking dance at the age of five. As she became serious about dance, she continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Mrs. Grubb was a military officer on her private competition drill team — the Houston Aires — where she held the offices of Major and Colonel. She was also a military officer on her high school drill team — the J Frank Dobie Lariaettes — where she held the offices of Major and Lt. Colonel. While in high school, Mrs. Grubb was an award-winning soloist and solo finalist at multiple competitions.

After graduating, she was selected to be a member of the Orange Pride dance team and was awarded a dance scholarship to attend Sam Houston State University. While on Orange Pride, her team won the UDA National Championship title and was featured on ESPN. In college, Mrs. Grubb made the dean’s list, was a member of the dance honors society and was also selected to be a member of the elite SHSU dance company. While in the company, she was chosen to perform at the ACDFA Gala, was a soloist at the “Dances at Eight” concert, and performed at many venues including Houston Rockets games, San Antonio Spurs games, Kyle Field, Disney World, and Sea World. Throughout college, Mrs. Grubb was on staff with the American Dance drill team and worked as a choreographer and technique instructor for the Dancin' Bluebonnets.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts in dance, Mrs. Grubb started her teaching career at Dana’s Studio of Dance in Southlake, TX, and has worked at several studios and with multiple high school drill teams. Mrs. Grubb became the head director and choreographer for the J Frank Dobie Lariaettes and held that position for five years. During her time with the J Frank Dobie Lariaettes, Mrs. Grubb was awarded the ADTS Outstanding Director Award. She led her team to win many awards in her years serving as its director. Some of those awards included best overall technique, best overall showmanship, best of the best, and National Champions. Mrs. Grubb also took her team on many performance trips including Disney World and Sea World.

Mrs. Grubb is a versatile dancer who enjoys all styles of dance.  Her favorite style of dance is lyrical. Mrs. Grubb has been married for 12 years and has three wonderful children. Mrs. Grubb is excited to be teaching dance at Wakeland and to be the director of the Wakeland Legacy Line!
